Verified capabilities and limits of this utility
Supported categoriesLength, mass/weight, temperature, speed/velocity, area, and volume
Unit standardsInternational System of Units (SI) and US Customary / Imperial definitions
Natural input parsingRecognizes symbols and written unit names (e.g. 100 km/h, 72 F, 50 kg, 10 miles)
Output representationsOverview table, plain text list, or JSON model
Max input size10 KB
Execution deadline2 s
Processing locationBrowser-only: mathematical transformations execute in a local Web Worker

How to use

  1. Enter a measurement with its unit into the input box (e.g. `100 C`, `75 mph`, `50 kg`, `10 miles`).
  2. Select your target measurement category or leave it on 'All Compatible Units' to auto-convert across all compatible scales.
  3. Adjust decimal precision (default is 4 decimal places).
  4. Choose your desired output style: Overview Table, Text List, or JSON Model.
  5. Click 'Run' or press Ctrl+Enter to view the converted values instantly.

Example

Convert 100 C to Fahrenheit and Kelvin

Input

100 C

Edge cases

Absolute zero temperature boundaries

Supports temperatures below freezing and accurately maps offsets between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and absolute zero Kelvin.

Nautical and astronomical units

Includes standard maritime navigational units such as nautical miles (1852 meters) and knots.

US liquid vs imperial volumes

Defaults volume calculations to US customary fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.

How it works

  1. Parses the input string using regular expressions into a numerical magnitude and a unit identifier.
  2. Determines the physical dimension family (length, weight, temperature, speed, area, or volume).
  3. Converts the input measurement into standard base SI units (meters, kilograms, m/s, square meters, liters, Celsius).
  4. Multiplies or transforms base SI values across all corresponding destination units in the same dimension.
  5. Rounds values to the user-specified decimal precision.

Frequently asked questions

How is Celsius converted to Fahrenheit?

The formula is °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, the formula is °C = (°F - 32) × 5/9.

Why does the tool convert to metric first?

Converting through a single base SI unit (such as meters or kilograms) eliminates exponential conversion tables and prevents compounding rounding errors.

Are conversion values sent to a server?

No. All mathematical conversions execute locally inside your browser via Web Workers.
