Sam,DevBecause Markdown tables use the pipe character (|) to separate columns, raw pipes inside data fields must be escaped as \| so parser engines do not split the field into multiple columns.
GFM tables indicate column text alignment in the separator row beneath headers: ':---' for left, ':---:' for center, and '---:' for right. Downstream markdown renderers format table cells accordingly.
When extracting CSV tables from untrusted Markdown documentation, cells starting with '=', '+', '-', or '@' are prefixed with an apostrophe to prevent macro execution in Excel or Calc.
CSV ↔ TSV Converter
Convert bi-directionally between CSV (Comma-Separated Values) and TSV (Tab-Separated Values) with delimiter flexibility, quote handling, and spreadsheet formula injection protection.
CSV ↔ HTML Table Converter
Convert bi-directionally between CSV/TSV spreadsheets and semantic HTML <table> markup with custom class attributes, header cells, and spreadsheet injection protection.
Markdown Preview
Convert Markdown into safe, standalone HTML for previewing and copying.
A GFM table is an extension to the CommonMark specification that creates tabular displays in READMEs, pull requests, and documentation using pipe (|) and dash (-) characters.
Standard GFM specification requires at least a header row and a separator row. When converting CSVs without headers, synthetic column names (Column 1, Column 2) are automatically generated to maintain valid Markdown syntax.
