Compile a pasted JSON Schema and validate JSON data with paths, keywords, and readable error parameters.

Key facts

Verified capabilities and limits of this utility
Validation engineAjv with optional strict checks and all-errors reporting
ResultValid flag plus instance paths, schema paths, keywords, and parameters
ProcessingLocal Web Worker; data and schema are not uploaded
Combined input limit3 MB

How to use

  1. Paste the JSON instance into the Data editor and its JSON Schema into the Schema editor.
  2. Keep all-errors reporting enabled to see every detected violation, or disable it for the first error only.
  3. Enable strict schema checks while authoring schemas; relax them only for a known legacy schema.
  4. Run validation and use instancePath and keyword fields to locate each problem.

Edge cases

Schema compilation

Malformed or unsupported schemas return an input error instead of a misleading validation result.

Valid JSON can still fail

Syntax validity and schema validity are separate; parsed data can violate required properties, types, ranges, or patterns.

External references

Remote schema retrieval is not performed. Bundle referenced definitions into the pasted document for local validation.

How it works

  1. Parses the instance and schema independently so errors identify the correct input pane.
  2. Compiles the schema locally with Ajv under the selected strictness and error-reporting settings.
  3. Runs the validator and serializes structured diagnostics without fetching remote references.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from JSON Validator?

JSON Validator checks syntax; this tool also checks values against schema rules.

What do strict schema checks do?

They detect ambiguous or commonly mistaken schema constructs during compilation. Disabling strict mode can help with legacy schemas but does not make invalid data valid.

Will the validator download a remote $ref?

No. The tool does not fetch URLs found in pasted schemas; referenced definitions must be available within the supplied schema.
